Pat Heslop-Harrison is Professor of Molecular Cytogenetics and Cell Biology at the University of Leicester. He was also a Founder Director of BioAstral until November 2010, he is President from 2009 of the Society for Experimental Biology, and Chief Editor of Annals of Botany. He was previously a partner in Imten and Cortex Controllers, specialists in microcomputer design and analytical applications.

His technology developments have included many innovations in molecular cytogenetics and molecular biology, and have lead to some 250 publications, including articles in leading books in his research fields.
