Alaska and polar regions

 

The Oral History Program was established in 1981 to collect, preserve, and provide access to audio and video recordings that provide insight into Alaska’s history and the people who have contributed to its heritage. Includes a project jukebox.

The Pryor Centre for Arkansas Oral and Visual History

 

The Pryor Center was created in 1999 and has the mission to document the cultural heritage of Arkansans by collecting oral and moving image resources, and to share those resources with scholars, students, and the public.

Bland County History Archives, Virginia

 

Featuring transcripts of oral interviews conducted by the students of Rocky Gap High School.

Born in Slavery and Voices from the Days of Slavery

 

'Born in Slavery' is Slave Narratives from the Federal Writers' Project, 1936-1938, containing more than 2,300 first-person accounts of slavery and 500 black-and-white photographs of former slaves. 'Voices from the days of Slavery' are recordings which present the actual interview and thereby provide the unique experience of hearing the ex-slaves' voices with their own inflections and various regional dialects.

Brooklyn Historical Society

 

Began their oral history project in 2006 to collect important audio documents: primary sources about people, ideas, and events that make up the history of 21st century Brooklyn.

UCLA Library Centre for Oral History Research

 

The mission of the UCLA Library's Center for Oral History Research is to document the history of Southern California and the Los Angeles metropolitan region through oral history interviews. In addition to interviews conducted by its own staff, the center accepts donated interviews that enhance its collecting areas. Its staff members also undertake selected grant-funded projects that cover subjects beyond the Southern California area.

CMS Oral History Project

 

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Oral History Project provides information about the history of CMS programs and their impact upon the nation from the perspective of many key participants.

Center for Oral History, University of Connecticut

 

Historians develop source material through a program of tape recorded interviews. Tapes, transcripts, and related materials are housed at the Centre and these archives are open to students and professional researchers. Also home of the New England Association for Oral History. Columbia University Oral History Research Office

 

 

The focus of the collection is United States political and cultural history. However, it also contains large projects on the history of China and Argentina, and some scattered interviews from other countries. We also have major collections in the history of the popular arts, social activism, and social welfare, and in business history.

Densho Website

 

Densho's mission is to preserve the testimonies of Japanese Americans who were unjustly incarcerated during World War II before their memories are extinguished. They offer these irreplaceable firsthand accounts, coupled with historical images and teacher resources, to explore principles of democracy and promote equal justice for all.

Georgia Women's Movement Oral History Project

 

The collection is composed of taped interviews conducted by the Women's Studies Institute with participants in the Movement. These interviews describe participants' efforts to pass the Equal Rights Amendment in the state of Georgia and relate to their participation in religious, political, and other organizations involved.

Greenwich Library Oral History Project

 

The history of Greenwich since 1890. 700 interviews.

Centre for Oral History at University of Hawaii

 

Established in 1976 by the Hawai‘i State Legislature. COH preserves the recollections of Hawai‘i’s people through oral interviews and disseminates oral history transcripts to researchers, students, and the general community.

John F. Kennedy Library Oral History Project

The Institute of American Indian Studies administers one of the largest oral history collections of its kind in the United States. Texas Legacy Project

 

The Conservation History Association of Texas online archive of video, audio, text, and other materials collected through interviews and correspondence with the people who have shaped and continue to influence the protection of Texas natural resources.

United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, Washington

 

One of the largest and most diverse resources for Holocaust testimonies in the world. The collection contains over 7,000 interviews, of which approximately 4,500 are video and 2,500 are audio. These testimonies enable students, researchers, and the general public to see and hear the first-hand accounts of those who experienced, witnessed, or perpetrated the events of the Holocaust.

Veteran's History Project

 

The Veterans History Project focuses on World War I (1914-1920), World War II (1939-1946), and the Korean (1950-1955), Vietnam (1961-1975), and Persian Gulf (1990-1995) wars. It includes all participants in those wars - men and women, civilian and military.

Vietnam Centre Oral History Project

 

An element of the Vietnam Archive, the mission of the Oral History Project is to create and preserve a more complete record of the wars in Southeast Asia by preserving, through recorded interviews, the recollections and experiences of the men and women who participated in these wars, as well as those military and civilian personnel involved in activities surrounding the wars on the homefront.

Virginia Tech History Project

 

Oral histories from the first Black women to attend Virginia Tech. The interviews focus on the entry experience and the interviewees' perceptions of the climate and attitudes within the university community particularly as pertains to race and gender.

The Virtual Oral/Aural History Archive of California State University, Long Beach. This site provides access to the full audio recordings of oral histories that have been deposited in Special Collections of the University Library

Wayne State University - Walter P. Reuther Library

 

The Oral History Collection at the Walter P. Reuther Library contains individual interviews regarding American labor history and Detroit urban affairs. Conducted in the 1950s – 2000s (bulk 1970s-2000s), major topics include working women; local, state, and national politics; radical social and labor movements; education; Detroit African-American communities; and union leadership and rank-and-file experiences.

Wisconsin - U.S. Forest Products Lab Centennial Oral History Project

 

This collection includes digital audio recorded interviews with current and former employees of the U.S. Forest Products Laboratory located in Madison, Wisconsin.
