Finishing

Finishing involved washing oil out of the fabric, dyeing, pressing or 'trimming' in steam heated presses.

After these stages the garments were taken to the counterman for pairing off, folding and packing. They would be checked for flaws and mending rejects could be done by hand ('invisible mending').

To the right are examples of garments produced by Wolsey before the Second World War.
