Literacy Key Stage 1 Activity

Learning objectives: to remember specific points from oral accounts; to write simple instructions to play a game.

Resources: a selection of extracts, e.g., Sound Yer Holler and Spy Game, examples of written instructions on how to play with some toys and games.

Activity

  • Listen to the extracts. Ask the children to describe the rules for playing these games.
  • Are they clear and easy to follow? Choose a well known game. Model how to write the rules for playing it.
  • Children write their own rules for playing games.
