Toys and Games: An Oral History

These pages will give you a taster of Toys and Games: An Oral History a CD produced by the East Midlands Oral History Archive. The CD contains memories of the way children played during the twentieth century and beyond. From the days when toys were a luxury possessed by the few through crazes like hula hoops, Action Man and Star Wars to games consoles and PCs, there have been a lot of changes in childhood, but, there are also a lot of similarities in the way children have played across time.

The CD is based on oral history interviews deposited in the East Midlands Oral History Archive and would be fascinating listening for anyone interested in history, children, toys and games. In particular teachers of key stages 1 and 2 may find the material useful and might wish to print the free teachers' pack to support the CD.

This link will open the teachers' pack as a pdf: Teachers' pack.
