The history of Oadby and Wigston

The Borough of Oadby and Wigston adjoins the south-eastern side of the City of Leicester and is the smallest, in area, of Leicestershire's nine districts. Oadby and Wigston has good lines of communication to the city of Leicester and has become popular as a place of residence for people working in Leicester. Since the Second World War, the area has grown residentially with extensive housing estates. Both Oadby and Wigston are home to medieval parish churches.

The Borough of Oadby and Wigston website is a good place to start if you are interested in finding out more about the area.
