The history of North West Leicestershire

This area contains diverse communities like the market town Ashby-de-la-Zouch and the centre of Leicestershire's mining industry Coalville. The District Council maintain an extensive website which has a variety of resources for residents and visitors to the area.

The area was the subject of the Mantle Oral History project which is now held in the East Midlands Oral History Archive.

Currently working in the area is the LANDshapes a Heritage Lottery Funded project based in the National Forest. The LANDshapes oral history collection can be found on the EMOHA site.
