The history of Harborough

A large borough to the south of the county Harborough encompasses both Market Harborough and Lutterworth. There is detailed information at British History Online about Market Harborough and the surrounding Gartree Hundred. The history of the Market Harborough Workhouse is also available on the web at Peter Higgenbotham's website.

Around 200 oral history interviews about the area are held by Harborough Museum and are now part of the East Midlands Oral History Archive.

Family historians should make sure that they are in contact with the Market Harborough Group of the Leicestershire and Rutland Family History Society.
