Collection History

The Leicester Regiment Collection comprises 7 interviews. The interviews were conducted by EMOHA in early 2004 in response to a request for oral history material, from World War II veterans of the Regiment, by the Leicester Regiment Museum. Copies of the collection will be deposited with the museum, in addition to being available at the Record Office.

What the Collection Contains

The interviews in this collection were conducted with veterans of the Leicester Regiment who served during the Second World War. The testimony covers experience of theatres of war in Europe, Africa and the Far East, including Norway, France, North Africa, India and Malaya. The interviews also include the experience of Prisoners of War of the Japanese, following the fall of Singapore.
