 University of Leicester Open Day

June 2002

Wednesday July 3, 10am-4pm

Visitors from Leicestershire, Rutland and beyond will get the chance to sample the first-class educational opportunities offered by the University of Leicester at its Open Day on Wednesday 3 July.

As well as a full programme of departmental visits and information talks, all of the University’s facilities are open.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Robert Burgess, and senior academic staff will welcome visitors to the campus and current students are available to take people on tours.

Schools and Colleges Liaison Officer Jacky Wetzig said: “Open Days are playing an increasingly important role in student recruitment, providing parents and pupils with an informed choice about the strengths and advantages of a university education. Although there is a great deal of information available in paper form and on the web – nothing can match the experience of visiting an institution.

“At the University of Leicester, we put a great deal of time and effort into ensuring that visitors enjoy a purposeful and constructive day. We have designed the event to be flexible, so that visitors can learn more about our degree courses, visit the departments and talk with our staff, and see the facilities on offer.”

“It is also important for students to see where they will be living, and we know that our applicants welcome this opportunity to see our excellent accommodation, both self-catered and in catered halls. We also welcome the opportunity to talk to parents and we encourage them participate in the activities on offer.”
