A photographer who has captured images of the stars of stage and screen is to exhibit his works at the University of Leicester.

Photographer Lou Boileau has collected a portfolio of images over 15 years, including pictures of John Thaw, Alan Bates, Rik Mayall, Richard Briers, Norman Wisdom, Simon Callow and Lesley Phillips amongst others.

All of the photographs, black and whites, have been taken on a one-to-one basis, and not for press or any publication.

Lou has recently had some of his photographic portraits commissioned by the National Portrait Gallery in London. Now Lou will have his work exhibited at the University of Leicester’s centre in Northampton from September 2.

Lou, a freelance photographer, attended the school of Art and Design in Northampton for four years and then moved to Italy for a short while working on various photographic projects.

Two years ago he was invited to photograph a personal portrait of the Queen Mother in Northamptonshire.

Lou said: “It is a great honour to have my work recognised by the National Portrait Gallery in London and I am delighted to hold this exhibition at the University of Leicester centre in Northampton.

“There is also a book of my work being published which will be out at the beginning of October.”
