The University of Leicester Management Centre has launched a new undergraduate degree course for UK/EU and international students.
Aimed at future managers across the private, public or voluntary sectors and in all types of business from local to multinational, the BA in Management Studies will equip students to take a range of careers, including in banking, accountancy and human resource management. The course also offers a chance to specialise in marketing and finance.
Core modules will include marketing, accountancy, finance, organisational analysis, human resource management, strategic and competitor analysis, operations management, international business and information management. Other options also exist in areas that are topical in today's global business climate, for instance in e-commerce, the management of cyber organisations, quality and reliability management and knowledge management.
The BA in Management Studies can lead to opportunities to take postgraduate professional qualifications with organisations such as the Chartered Institute of Marketing the Institute of Personnel Management and may qualify for exemptions from part of courses run by those bodies.
The University of Leicester Management Centre has been successfully running postgraduate courses in management and finance for more than ten years, and bears the sought-after AMBA accreditation for its MBA degree. An active research department, all members of staff are engaged in research, ranging from Public Sector Economics to Knowledge Management and Organisation Studies.
Speaking about the Centre's new undergraduate degree, Centre Director, Professor Peter Jackson, said: "With the success of our postgraduate degrees behind us we are delighted to extend the resources of the University of Leicester Management Centre to undergraduates who are keen to enter the business world, with all its present-day complexities and need for expert knowledge."
The degree is a full-time three years honours degree programme and will start in September 2001. Applications for the degree, UCAS code N100 BA/Man, should be made through UCAS.
