A new Bollywood movie depicting the hero and heroine meeting and falling in love as students of the University of Leicester is currently being filmed on campus.
Is Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon (What name shall I call our love) involves over 100 crew and cast who have set up camp at the University as the perfect location for their film.
The movie stars model-turned-actor John Abrahms and Akanksha Malhotra - the granddaughter of screen legends Premnath and Bina Rai. It is being made by Saboo Films and produced by Rajat Rawail. The Director is Rahul Rawail, maker of such big Bollywood films as Arjun Pandit and Kuch Khatti Kuch Meethi.
The stars have been filmed in the University Library, Students' Union, its catering facilities and on the campus lawn, in front of the historic Georgian original building of the University, the Fielding Johnson, which formed the majestic backdrop for a song sequence.
As part of the UK filming, the film will also take in sights in London and Blackpool.
Mr Rawail said: "The University of Leicester is the perfect setting for my film - it has beautiful grounds and, like the rest of Leicester, is full of different cultures and backgrounds. Understanding between cultures is what the whole film is about so this is important."
The story is about a boy from India meeting a girl from Pakistan at university, falling in love, and then returning to a political maelstrom back in south Asia where their love has to overcome many obstacles. The film contrasts their idyllic love in Leicester with the problems they face at home.
Dipesh Majithia and Sunil Dattani, the Leicester-based UK co-ordinators of the project, said: "This is the first of many films we will be bringing to the UK and particularly Leicester which has been very accommodating. We already have several films lined up after this."
Mr Ather Mirza, Director of Press and Public Relations at the University of Leicester, said: "Bollywood produces over 900 films each year and producers are increasingly looking to UK locations for their shoots.
"We are pleased that Leicester fits their requirements in every respect. It has been a great experience for the University and the Union to be working with a Bollywood production and to showcase our many facilities.
"We know the University of Leicester is attractive to students, staff and visitors - it is pleasing that film companies see us as an eye-catching 'role model' too."
The Film is scheduled for release worldwide next Spring.
