The University of Leicester Institute of Lifelong Learning is launching a Business Ideas Competition, with prizes amounting to £1,500.

Those who feel inspired to enter will receive valuable feedback on their idea, as well as a chance to network and to learn how to start a business and launch a business idea.

Category A of the competition is open to undergraduate students at the University of Leicester and students studying on a Certificate of Higher Education course or the BA Humanities Programme within the Institute of Lifelong Learning, either at Vaughan College or University of Leicester Northampton Centre. Category B is open to students within the Colleges – University of Leicester Network studying at Level 3.

Each category offers a first prize of £500 and second prize of £250.

The Business Ideas Competition aims to encourage students to consider setting up their own businesses, and to help them develop the expertise and confidence they will need to enter the world of business enterprise.

On completion of the registration form, entrants will receive a copy of the workbook, which will offer valuable guidance on how to proceed. The deadline for entries is Wednesday, April 30, 2003, and those whose ideas have been shortlisted will be notified two weeks before the judging day at the end of May.

Judges will be looking for ideas that have been well-researched and thought-through.
