Obituary: Mr L G Wayne

Leslie George Wayne, known to many at Vaughan College and at the School of Education, died on January 13. From February 26, 1990, Les was employed as a Porter, based initially at Vaughan College and then at the School of Education. Unfortunately he had to retire early in February 1998 - due to ill health.

Prior to joining the University Les had a variety of jobs. He worked as a baker for eight years, and, for six years respectively, as an HGV driver and a fork lift driver. He was also a private hire driver. Although Les spent the greater part of his University employment at Vaughan College, he was a well-known character at both sites, and he will be remembered by many - colleagues, staff and students.
