For Hope Against Cancer, academic hopes to raise £600

On 1st August, Dr. Don Jones from the Department of Cancer Studies and Molecular Medicine will be throwing himself out of an aeroplane to raise money for local charity Hope Against Cancer.

Issued on 23 June, 2010

Don will be jumping with Maria Tilton from the charity who was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer 18 months ago. Hope Against Cancer was launched in 2002 to combat the financial challenges of providing cancer research and treatment to citizens in Leicestershire and Rutland.

The sponsored skydive will take place over Langar Airfield, Nottinghamshire. Attributing his daring decision to either a midlife crisis or depression induced by the English football team, Don is hoping to raise £600. You can sponsor him at

Don takes the first, and last, step.
