Self-exiled Morrell finds work as a gardener, working for a noble lord. The lords of his own region of Angers seek their bishop near and far, and eventually in England. There they recognise Morrell at a banquet given by the King of England, bringing into the feast the produce of his garden. Morrell is pictured on the right of this scene, standing on the king's left side and recognisable to us by his simple garb and saint's nimbus. His noble parishioners beg him to return (Scene 4).
