[ELH] Bristol's medieval churches: Temple Church

Temple Church or Holy Cross is bound up with Bristol's expansion south of the Avon and within the later defences. The eastern part of this new built-up area was given to the Knights Templar by Robert of Gloucester and became the headquarters of the Order in the west of England. The church was dedicated in honour of the Holy Cross in commemoration of the Order's foundation in Jerusalem.
