Law student is on track for chart breakthrough

University of Leicester Law student Carly Bond is on the verge of hitting the big time after reaching number one in the garage music chart.

Currently taking her third year of Law studies on an exchange trip at a Spanish university, she recorded the track while studying in Leicester.

A talented singer songwriter from Walthamstow, her track recently hit the number one spot with the self-penned song Not Wise, co-performed by Dr Venom.

The singer has performed a live session on BBC1 Xtra's digital radio station and has also recorded a track with chart-topping Garage DJ Jamieson, featured on his current album.

Her mother, Sue Blake, said: "It's been more of a hobby for her but when Carly started at university she started taking it more seriously with some other students. I'm very proud of her, she seems to be getting on with everything very well.

"She auditioned for Pop Idol and didn't get through, but said she would be back. I hope the track breaks into the pop charts."

The UK Garage Chart is compiled from 12 specialist garage record shops across the country.
