Networks and Groups

The Science Learning Centre East Midlands is happy to collaborate with teachers to provide support and networking opportunities for colleagues across the region.

Through the Science Learning Centres web portal we can give your group a 'Community Space' and the ability to communicate through email to others in one place. You can also upload documents and share information through the community.

We can also provide space and resources for departmental, school or cluster meetings. These can easily be arranged at our main Satellite Centres in Leicester, Nottingham and Lincoln. These are normally free of charge but if refreshments are required we will charge at cost.

Leicester City Primary Science Co-ordinators

This group meets once a term at the Science Learning Centre in Leicester, normally on Tuesdays from 4-6pm. Refreshments are served from 4pm and the meeting begins around 4.30pm.

We provide a CPD element to the meeting and the group is further supported by a community area on our web portal. To find out more or to join the group contact Karen Stuart at St Thomas More Primary School on 0116 270 6365 or by following the link below.

Stimulating Physics Network

The Stimulating Physics Network is a DCSF-funded project aimed at improving the take-up of A-Level Physics. Regional Physics Network Co-ordinators organise innovative and inspirational workshops for teachers. Enrichment and enhancement activities for pupils include "Lab in a Lorry" - a mobile science laboratory aimed at KS3, which takes hands-on experiments to schools.

For more information visit the Stimulating Physics Network or contact Elaine Hodkin, our Regional Liaison Officer.

Setting up a Network in the East Midlands

Should you wish to form a group, create an online community space, or hold a department meeting at the Centre then please contact us.

Each Tuesday evening we also offer free twilight sessions in Leicester from 4-6pm (other times by negotiation).

During these you can spend time in our resources room; try out ICT applications and practice experiments (with notice). All you have to do is let us know you are coming!
