University of Leicester students will soon be hip hopping in between lectures.

The Students' Union radio station, Lush FM, has been licensed to broadcast between 7 November and 2 December - with different types of music shows.

And local residents within a three mile radius will also be able to pick up the broadcasts on 106.6FM.

Dominic Webster, Station Controller, said: "The Lush team has been working really hard the past month to ensure that during this radio licence Lush FM can offer something for each and every listener.

"We will feature many different types of music shows from hip hop, garage, dance and general pop music to a Saturday sports shows with up to the minute sports results.

"We will do phone-ins and now have a sms/text message facility so that requests and messages can be aired."

Lush FM will be launched at 8am on Wednesday November 7.
