University of Leicester International
Office is to hold a reception on 27 February for international students who
have received scholarships from the University, the British Council or HM
will include the first four Physics students to receive the British Physics
Olympiad Scholarships, which have been awarded following the hosting of the
Olympiad by the University in July 2000.

all medal holders from the XXXI International Physics Olympiad, and were
subsequently successful in applying for IPhO 2000 Scholarships to enable them to
join the MPhys degree course in September 2001. The IPhO 2000 scholarships are
jointly funded by the British Physics Olympiad Committee and the University.
University has nearly 1000 full-time international students from more than 100
countries, including Singapore,
Malaysia, Hong Kong, Cyprus, Nigeria, People's Republic of China, Turkey,
Taiwan, Thailand, and India.
which are highly prized, are awarded to international students of the highest
calibre. Leicester currently has 21 students who have received the prestigious
Chevening Scholarships from the British Council.
University's own scholarships will rise in 2002 from £2,000 to £3,000 a year.

The International Scholars' Reception will be held in the City Lounge, 2nd Floor, Charles Wilson Building, University Main Campus, at 2.45 pm on Wednesday 27 February 2002. Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Will Light will present certificates at 3 pm, after which there will be an opportunity for photographs and light refreshments.
