Teaching resources from a University of Leicester centre have won acclaim in Government circles.
Professor David Ashton, Director of the Centre for Labour Market Studies at the University, learned to his delight of the Education and Employment Select Committee's use of the Centre's work.
The Centre had been recommended to the Education and Employment Select Committee as the national source of research expertise on training and as such was asked to provide the Committee with summaries of the latest research on training and economic performance.
He was told that the Parliamentary Committee had received from the Centre some "extremely useful papers on the relationship between training and organisational performance." The most useful one for the Committee's purposes "was an extract from the MSc inTraining and Performance Management. This cites highly relevant American research which I should like to quote from in the Committee report which I am currently drafting."
Professor Ashton, Director of the Centre, said: "It is very gratifying to have this further recognition of the quality of the teaching materials we prepare and of their up-to-date and comprehensive coverage of the field. We have always prided ourselves on the fact that our materials are informed by the very latest research."
