It could be an heirloom. It may have been bought in a car boot sale.
Wherever it came from that musical instrument in your attic has always puzzled you.
The University of Leicester will attempt to shed some light on the mystery on Friday, October 29, during its annual Open Day of the Charles Moore Collection of Musical Instruments. Dr Stephen Weston, the Collection's curator, will look at any musical instrument which members of the public may wish to bring along. He will give an opinion on the identity and date of the instrument, although he will not put a price on it.
"I hope that people will take the opportunity to come along and see what we have on display in our collection and bring in something which we can identify,' said Dr Weston.
The Open Day will be held in the Music Department on the 18th floor of the Attenborough Building of the University Road Campus between 11.00 am and 2.30 pm.
