[Press and Public Relations] Leicester Welcome for Japanese Students

July 2001

No. 92

A group of fifteen-year-old Japanese students will be visiting Leicester for a month in July to improve their English language skills with the University of Leicester English Language Teaching Unit.

While the boys, from Seiko College, Tokyo, are studying on the intensive course, they will be staying with Leicester families throughout the city.

As well as language classes, the group will enjoy some sporting activities, take a guided walk round the main sights of Leicester and visit Foxton Locks. They will also visit York and Warwick Castle.

The University will be welcoming them and their host families at a reception party on Monday 23 July.

Note to editors: Photo and interview opportunities will be available at the reception, Monday 23 July, 7-9 pm in the Garendon Room, Charles Wilson Building, University main campus.

Further information is available from Stella Smyth, English Language Tutor, telephone 0116 252 2449, email sks6@le.ac.uk.
