Special Ethnic Careers Fair

The University of Leicester is dedicating a Careers Fair to highlighting job opportunities for people from different ethnic backgrounds.

The University's Careers Service is staging an Ethnic Diversity Careers Fair as part of Diversity Week, a programme designed to help students from different ethnic backgrounds in their career choices.

It will be the third consecutive year the Fair has been held and this year's event will feature presentations and exhibits by employers who have been identified as being pro-active in trying to recruit graduates from ethnic minority groups, including  KPMG, the Army, the NHS, HSBC and the College of Law.

Employer and Community Liaison Manager Haniel Riviere-Allen said: " Major graduate recruiters are offering work placements, graduate positions and further training.

"We have 26 exhibitors from public and private companies - such is the popularity of the Fair that we had to refuse some companies that wanted to attend due to pressure of space. There will be workshops aimed at helping students with various selection processes- the application process, interview techniques and competency based application forms."

Diversity Week will run over five days from Monday 10th to Friday 14th March and incorporate a series of workshops including information on job hunting, management, accountancy, careers abroad and careers for mature students .

The University of Leicester Ethnic Diversity careers fair, in association with The Independent newspaper, takes place on Wednesday, March 12, between 11am and 4pm, in the Queen's Hall of the Percy Gee building.

Companies interested in the Career's Fair should contact the Employer Liaison team on 0116 252 5117.

NOTE TO NEWSDESK: For more information, please contact Haniel on 0116 252 5117.
