Christmas Gardening Programme at University of Leicester

The University of Leicester's Institute of Lifelong Learning and its Botanic Garden staff are to run three workshops in a Christmas gardening programme.

The first of these three workshops is to take place on Saturday, November 30, 2002 on CHRISTMAS WREATH MAKING. It will include information on styles and materials used in the creation of wreaths and will include practical work where people will get the opportunity to create a product  which they can take home.

The second workshop will take place on Saturday, December 7, 2002 and will be on HOW TO MAKE A WINTER TROUGH. This will include information on container types, compost mixes and the use of fertilisers in troughs. There will also be the opportunity to do some practical work where people will get the opportunity to create a product which they can take home.

The final workshop will be on Saturday, December 14, 2002 on the subject of 'HE INDOOR/OUTDOOR HERB GARDEN and will include the opportunity to study a wide range of topics including the design and style of herb gardens, plants and planting, aftercare and propagation and pests and diseases. There will again be the opportunity to take part in practical work and create a product which can be taken home.

All courses will take place in the University of Leicester Botanic Garden (meet at Glebe Road Entrance), Oadby, and will run from 10am - 1pm. If booked individually each course will cost 35 or 90 for all three. To book a place contact Lyn Brown by phone on 0116 252 5963 or by email at
