Staff from three universities collaborate in successful project
Risk compensation on the agenda at third meeting
The EPSRC Network project, Risk Perception and Assessment in Design, held its third meeting in March.
Dr Simon Bennett, from the University of Leicester's Criminology Centre, a collaborator on the project, chaired one of the seminar sessions.
Hosted by the University of Bath, the meeting attracted academics and industrialists from the UK and Europe. The high point of the meeting was a lecture given by Professor John Adams on the subject of 'risk compensation'.
Professor Adams, of UCL's Department of Geography, shot to fame in the 1970s as a result of his groundbreaking study of seatbelts and their contribution to driver and passenger safety.
It is anticipated that the Network project will generate significant income for the three universities involved: Leicester, Bath and Lancaster.
