Experts from across the country gathered in Leicester recently to share the latest knowledge and skills in the complex field of hand surgery.

Around 35 consultants and trainees attended the two day master-class at the Highpoint conference centre in Glenfield Road, which was organised by the University of Leicester Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and the University Hospitals of Leicester. The course convenor was Mr Joseph Dias (pictured above), who is also an Honorary Senior Lecturer in the University's Department of Orthopaedic Surgery.

The event, which comprised keynote lectures, practical demonstrations and interactive sessions, was constructed to provide a range of solutions for orthopaedic and plastic surgeons in the care of hand fractures following industrial and road traffic accidents.

Julie Salter, University PA at Glenfield Hospital said: “With delegates attending from all over the country, this is a key event for surgeons, which says something about the quality of medical research and teaching in Leicester as host city.

“We chose Highpoint because it is a dedicated conference venue with the space, facilities and service we needed for such a prestigious event.”
