Good news from the Library!

We're pleased to announce an extension of the opening hours of the Main Library from January 2, 2003 for a trial period.

From January 2, 2003 to June 27, 2003 inclusive the building will open at 8.30am and close at midnight, Monday to Friday. The extra hours will be reference only; service hours will continue to be 9am to 9pm.

These hours will apply Monday to Friday throughout the trial period, except for the University closure at Easter, and the public holidays on May 5 and 26, 2003.

Please remember that you need to have your library card with you whenever you want to get into the library. Access during the extended periods of opening will be only be possible if you have a valid card.

With the help of the Estates Office and the Computer Centre, we're delighted to be able to offer this positive response to requests from users to extend access to library resources, study places and computing facilities.

If you have any comments on the new arrangements, please let us know, by emailing Jo Aitkins, Public Services Librarian, ( or by filling in one of our Comments, Compliments, Complaints forms.

Stephen Rawlinson
Library Publicity Officer
