Included in the fun were party games, tug of war, stocks, croquet and a Fancy Dress Competition, with a patriotic or 50s theme for the contestants.

Children and staff of Stanhope House Day Nursery celebrated the Queen’s Golden Jubilee on May 31 with a 'red white and blue party'. Most of the decorations and the food was made by the children and included red white and blue cakes, biscuits and jam sandwiches, with jelly and ice cream to finish.

All the children and staff were dressed in red white and blue. Joseph - aged four - had the union jack painted on his face by his mum and other children wore capes of union jack flags.

Alice (16 months) enjoyed the food - her own and her neighbours! When it came to the jelly she liked it so much that when she had finished her own and any other portions nearby she climbed onto the table to reach further for more.

All in all it was a glorious day the sun shone and we all enjoyed the party outside.
