- The mouth, tongue and larynx appeared normal.
- The lungs weighed slightly more than usual, and had a rather nodular surface appearance.
- On slicing, the left lung contained a diffuse white mass with an ill-defined edge; as you can see on the image. The mass had started to occlude the main bronchus of the left lung but could not be seen to arise directly from the bronchus.
- There was no evidence of pulmonary oedema or embolus.
- The pleural cavities were normal, with no effusion present.
