The picture on the left is a low power view showing increased marrow cellularity. On the right, at high power, the cells infiltrating the marrow have the typical appearance of plasma cells.
- The spleen weighed 200g, with a firm consistency and normal cut surface appearance.
- Several enlarged para-aortic lymph nodes were identified.
- Bone marrow sample taken during life was reviewed. See pictures below.
The picture on the left shows a section of spleen stained with haematoxylin and eosin. Notice the cells present are separated by pale pink material. On the right is a similar area of spleen stained with Congo Red for amyloid.
- Sections of spleen were taken for histological staining (see pictures below).
