Modern Languages at Leicester is one of the leading centres for the study of languages, cultures and translation in the UK. We offer a wide range of highly flexible degree programmes on the languages and cultures of the Francophone, Italian and Hispanic worlds and in Translation Studies, on which our students can also combine language and cultural studies with English; film studies; business and management; politics and international relations.
We are a vibrant and close-knit community of scholars and students, with an outstanding record for excellence in student experience and support. In the 2023 NSS, Modern Languages at Leicester scored in the top quintile for teaching, learning opportunities, assessment and feedback, and academic support. We are ranked in the top 20 in the 2024 Complete University Guide.
Modern Languages at Leicester is part of the School of Arts.
The University’s research is ranked 30 in the UK in the Research Excellence Framework 2021, according to analysis by Times Higher Education.
