School of Historical Studies

Carolingian Polyptyques

One of the aims of this project was to create freely-available online resources to train Level 2 History students in the application of advanced ICT methods, the use of numbers, and the ability to extrapolate numerical data from textual sources and to apply their findings to complex written arguments. Therefore, in the future this page will contain a linked worksheet providing research-led questions of graduated complexity that require students to extrapolate numerical data from the texts and to build data sets and queries using Excel.

As the resources created by this project do not require the users to have specialist subject-specific knowledge, these worksheets can also be used as a case study in generic ICT skills modules for Humanities students. An additional set of questions will be provided on the worksheet for Level 3 students taking specialist modules in Early Medieval History and/or Archaeology.
