We found in the island called Staffelsee a church built in honour of St Michael, in which we found one altar adorned with gold and silver; five reliquaries, gilded and adorned with gems of glass and crystal, and one other of copper, partly gilded; one small cross for relics, gilded, with a key and silver plating; one other small cross for relics, made of gold and glass; one other cross, larger, of gold and silver with glass gems. There hangs above the altar one crown of silver partly gilded, weighing two pounds, and in the middle of this hang one small cross of gilded copper and one crystal globe; and all around the crown hang 35 rows of pearls of various colours. There is coined silver to the value of three shillings. There are four gold ear-rings, weighing 17 denarii. There are two silver chalices, one of them engraved on the outside and gilded and weighing 30 solidi along with its paten, the other also engraved on the outside and gilded and weighing 15 solidi along with its paten; one silver offertory-box, weighing six solidi. Half a sicclus of honey, two siccli of butter, five modii of salt, three siccli of soap, five feather beds with pillows, three bronze cauldrons and six iron ones, five pot-hooks, one iron lamp, 17 barrels bound in iron, 10 scythes, 17 sickles, seven adzes, seven axes, 10 goatskins, 20 sheepskins, one fishing net. There is a women's workshop there, with 24 women in it; we found in it five pieces of woollen cloth, along with four bandages and five pieces of linen. There is one mill there: each year it pays 12 modii of grain. |

When one of them does not go to the army, he rides to wherever he is told. There are five manses which give two oxen each year; each man rides to wherever he is told. There are four manses, each of which ploughs nine iornales each year and sows and harvests them, and cuts three loads of hay in the lord's meadow and brings it in. Each of them does labour service for six weeks in the year, does carrying service, takes a share in bringing in the wine, manures one iornalis of the demesne, and gives 10 loads of wood.
