All grants and awards are open only to members of the Prehistoric Society. Details of membership can be found on the membership page. The exception is the Conference Fund, which is open to members and non-members alike. If you are not a member, please enclose your membership application and payment with your grant application.
The deadline for receipt of all applications and references is 31st January of each year. N.B. Late, incomplete or applications received without references will not be considered.
All grants are awarded at the annual Awards Committee meeting in February. The Awards Committee comprises the President, Secretary and Vice Presidents. Successful applicants will be notified by the middle of March. Unsuccessful applicants will be notified by email.
A condition of grant acceptance is that all recipients must complete a short report (500-800 words, with 1-2 images) suitable for publication in our newsletter PAST. Please see PAST online for suitable content, style, etc. This report should be received by the Society within two months of the completion of the project for which the grant was received. All successful applicants will be contacted to confirm the status of this report. Recipients who fail to provide such a report will be barred from future grant applications.

John and Bryony Coles Bursary (Student Travel Award)
This bursary was established in 1998, by John and Bryony Coles, to enable student members of the Prehistoric Society to travel away from their home country or region to study and work at prehistoric archaeology. Two awards of between £200 and £300 each are usually given each year.
