GENERAL INFORMATION

ECOS VIII will take place in Spain and France in 2002. The scientific sessions will be held in Toulouse and Albi, June 22-25.
The site of the meeting on June 22nd, 23rd and in the morning of June 24th is the Université Paul Sabatier, Toulouse III which was originally founded in the 13th Century. Situated within the historic city centre, the campus is surrounded by gardens and is not far from 10th to 17th Century churches, monasteries, and town houses, all within walking distance of hotels, restaurants outdoor cafés and shopping. Toulouse is the second largest university centre in France. For additional information, consult the web Page maintained by the City of Toulouse: http://www.mairie-toulouse.fr
In the afternoon of June 24th the meeting will move to Albi, 75 km from Toulouse, and will remain there for June 25th. The old historic town of Albi was the capital of Cathars, referred as 'Albigensians'. Albi is famous for its Gothic Basilica consecrated to Sainte Cécile (5th Century), the Toulouse Lautrec Museum, the Berbie Palace, and the ancient heart of the city. For additional information: http://www.tourisme.fr/albi

Summer weather in Toulouse, Albi and in the areas of the excursions is particularly pleasant and sunny, with daytime temperatures ranging from 75°F/24°C to 85°F/30°C, but cooler conditions, including rain showers, are also possible.

The third circular, with the final program, will be distributed in April 2002 to participants who reply to the 2nd circular and who pay the conference fees in March 2002. Please find links to all forthcoming information via the University Paul Sabatier homepage at: http://www.ups-tlse.fr/ACTUALITES/Sciences/ (follow the links to ECOS VIII 2002).
