Professor Ray Peacock

Notice | Funeral Arrangements

We have learnt, with great regret, of the death of Prof Ray Peacock. Prof Peacock served as a Pro-Vice-Chancellor for two terms of office, and was also Dean of the Faculty of Science and Head of Inorganic Chemistry from 1965 to 1991.

He passed away on Thursday 15th March 2012, at the Horton Hospital in Banbury after a long illness. He died peacefully and was not in any pain.

The funeral will take place on Monday 26th March 2012. As to his wishes, there will be a short cremation service at Oxford crematorium for the family.

This will be followed by a service of remembrance at 2:30pm at Tackley Methodist Chapel, Lower Hades Road, Tackley, OX5 3BE with refreshments at 3:30pm on the other side of the road at the Gardiners Arms function room.

In place of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made to Cancer Research. There will be a collection at the memorial service.
