New train station signs to promote 'one Leicester'

New signage between the tracks at Leicester station to be sponsored by De Montfort University, University of Leicester, Highcross Leicester, Curve Theatre, Leicester Sound and Invest Leicestershire

New signage between the tracks facing platforms two and three at Leicester train station is to promote the academic, cultural, retail and investment strengths of the city. Using the recently-launched 'one Leicester' brand, six local sponsors - De Montfort University, University of Leicester, Highcross Leicester, Curve Theatre, Leicester Sound and Invest Leicestershire - have teamed up to produce the signs that will promote the city and the organisations themselves to up to 4.8 million commuters and visitors per year.

The railway sign installation is the latest of a series of projects supporting the one Leicester campaign. one Leicester highlights the city's ambitions for the future and is co-ordinated by partners including Leicester City Council and Leicester Shire Promotions. It is aimed at helping Leicester to further raise its regional and national profile and features the many activities and developments that are currently changing the face of the city. These include the opening of Curve and Highcross Leicester, the development of a new digital media centre and the completion of the main city centre pedestrianisation improvements. one Leicester also provides a showcase for the many opportunities for businesses, investors and visitors, as well as encouraging local pride in the city. Martin Peters, Chief Executive of Leicester Shire Promotions, commented: "We believe that this is a really unique opportunity as Leicester is the only station in the country to have these sites available. We're delighted that these core partners have been able to join us as we look to promote the city as an ideal location in which to invest, to study, to shop, or simply just visit and enjoy."

Councillor Ross Willmott, Leader of Leicester City Council, said: "The one Leicester campaign is a hugely important development for the city and I'm delighted that some of the major organisations in the city have supported it in such a visible way. The signs will show millions of rail travellers just what is happening in Leicester."
