IRIS launch event for the Colleges of Arts, Humanities & Law and Social Science

We are delighted to announce that the IRIS launch event for the Colleges of Arts, Humanities & Law and Social Science will be held on 28th October in the Gartree & Rutland Suite, Charles Wilson Building from 09.30 – 11.00 (approximately).

What is IRIS?

IRIS (Integrated Research Information System) has replaced the RED system, and provides significantly improved user interface and functionality. IRIS can search online sources such as Google Books, Web of Science and SCOPUS for your publications and import the details. You can also import publications data from Endnote or RefManager. All data from RED have been transferred into IRIS, so you do not have to start from scratch.

Why should I attend the Launch?

At the launch event, you will see a demonstration of IRIS and the rationale for the new system will be explained. There will also be time for a Q&A session with members of the IRIS project team and Prof. K Schurer (PVC Research and Enterprise).

What will happen after the Launch?

Following the launch event, you may receive an email from IRIS Publications requesting that you log in (using your usual CFS username and password) and ‘approve’ any publications that have been found for you via the on-line database search facility. If the search does not return any of your publications, you will receive an email asking you to check that the data from RED has been transferred correctly.

As well as approving your identified publications and checking the data which has been imported from RED, you might also want to familiarise yourself with the new system. The feedback we’ve had from other sites and users is that the software is intuitive and easy to use, but user documentation and support are available.

We have organised the following drop in sessions for users:

Thursday 3rd November: 12.00 – 1.00pm in Attenborough Seminar ATT 103

Friday 4th November: 10.00 – 11.00am in David Wilson Ground Floor IT R2

Tuesday 8th November: 2.00 – 3.00pm in Attenborough Seminar ATT 219

Who can help me with using IRIS?

Your first point of contact is your Departmental IRIS Administrator. If your administrator is not available then please contact We look forward to seeing you at the launch event!
