Summary of interview item: Recalls that in late 1960s there was very little South Asian cultural life in Leicester, people used cinemas a lot. Describes taking schoolchildren to dance competitions and events, one at the Albert Hall, London. Explains how teaching Bhangra, film songs, helped children have pride in language/culture, which was important in early 1970s. Comments that in Kenya, this sense of culture was already present in schools. States belief that children benefit from exposure to culture. Talks about development work in Leicester's schools.
