Summary of interview item: Boys' Homes. Compilation of interview extracts recalling the experience of life in Boys Homes in Leicestershire, during the early years of the 20th century. Mr Emerson recalls his experience as a boy at the Holt, part of Market Bosworth workhouse. Mr Woodward describes his rural boys home and the food the boys were given. Anon describes being sent to Desford Boys' Home, after running away from home and the day to day regime of the home. Mrs Taylor and Mrs Shilcock provide a view of the Desford home from the perspective of working at the home. A view of the conditions that the boys experienced in their parental home is also given. Incidents in the homes, punishments, holidays and leaving the homes are also recalled.
