Summary of interview item: Home Remedies. Compilation of interview extracts describing a variety of home remedies used for different ailments. The cost of calling a doctor before the advent of the National Health Service (NHS) is recalled along with the other alternatives of chemists' advice, homeopathy and commercial remedies. A number of traditional home remedies are described including cures, for eye complaints, the blood, coughs and colds, whooping cough, headaches, earache, toothache, bruises, chilblains, stomach ailments, warts, eczema, bronchitis and pneumonia.
