Summary of interview item: Describes the two farms he was brought up on and the livestock kept. Recalls the Cattle Markets at Coalville and Ashby. Gives very detailed description of railway line, railway traffic, Bardon station and Bardon village shops and businesses, from when he was a boy. Recalls trip to Wembley exhibition in 1924, the annual August Fair and the Birch Tree Inn in Bardon. Also remembers the Everard family, regarded as local squire and Managing Director of the local stone quarry. Describes Station farm, splitting of estate in 1946, twice yearly rent audits and other farming families in the area. Recalls local entertainment.
