Recalls trip to Rugeley as influential and Bunny Tiegel, Birmingham giving him feedback on sticklebacks. Mentions importance of UCL course to his work. First job was with Nature Conservancy Council (NCC). Worked in Africa with Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) where fell in love with Africa where he wrote survey 'Birds of Obudu'.
