Describes the journey by car and arrival in Oxford. Recalls as a 6 year old the unwelcoming atmosphere at North Hinksey school. Recalls visit by father to Oxford. Recalls the air raids and arial activity around Colchester before they left. Describes the return journey to Colchester by train in November 1940 as the danger of invasion lessened and a bomb exploding nearby just after they arrived home.
