Summary of interview item: Joint interview with neighbour, Audrey Wilkinson. Recalls early life including work of father and grandfather at Bardon quarry, her school days and children's games. Describes work as a tailor before marriage and her marriage and husband's early death. Remembers Zeppelins during First World War and bombing and effects of Second World War in Coalville. Also describes events such as the" Wakes", haymaking and Everard family fetes as well as shopping, and the railway in Coalville. With Audrey Wilkinson she talks about conditions in the home, health remedies and domestic work, in the early part of the 20th century. Both speakers recall church going, Bardon Wood and the forming of Trade Unions at the quarry.
