Urban History Graduate Conference
Place in History - Histories of Place

Unfortunately the Graduate Conference which was to have been held on Friday 02 October 2009 has been cancelled.

Please accept our apologies for this.

Urban History Students are invited to attend the Urban History Group Annual Conference which includes a new researchers' forum.

General Information

The 'Postgraduate Workshop' series began in 2001 as a joint venture between postgraduate students of the Centre for Urban History, Leicester, and Birmingham University's Urban Morphology Group and has developed into an annual event.

The conference follows a multi-disciplinary approach aimed at widening understanding of the urban environment. While the conference is predominantly an historical meeting we aim to continue the exchange between postgraduate students and new researchers with a variety of research interests and academic disciplines both from the humanities and social sciences. The conference is open to all – not simply urban historians.

The conference is organised by graduate students for other graduate students and new researchers and provides a relaxed environment for presentation of work in progress. Students whose work is not yet at a presentation stage are invited to attend to hear and discuss work with others in an informal setting. The conference also offers a valuable opportunity to share experiences of life as a research student.
