Prior to this post James was Keeper of Documentary Film at the National Film and Television Archive where he started as a film cataloguer in 1979.

Beyond the everyday concerns of maintaining and developing MACE, James is interested in the curation and accessibility of film archive collections, in film archive policy, in the British documentary and in the home movie.

James is currently:
